ReadyPH Fund rises as Super typhoon Uwan nears the Philippines

With Super Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-Wong) threatening to make landfall in the Philippines, the FinTech Alliance PH and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) have joined forces to transform urgency into unified action through the #ReadyPH National Fund Drive.

The campaign seeks to mobilize swift and technology-powered assistance to communities likely to be hit by the storm, emphasizing that readiness—not just relief—can save lives.

To jumpstart the effort, the FinTech Alliance PH has donated ₱100,000 and called on the private sector, partner institutions, and individual Filipinos to take part in this act of digital bayanihan by donating through PDRF’s official accounts.

“This is not just about relief—it’s about readiness,” said Lito Villanueva, Founding Chairman of FinTech Alliance PH and Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer of RCBC. “Through #ReadyPH, we’re harnessing the power of digital bayanihan to protect lives even before the storm hits. Readiness saves more lives than relief ever can.”

PDRF President Butch Meily echoed the call for preparedness, sharing that the foundation’s teams have already been on the ground responding to multiple disasters in recent weeks. “We have deployed teams to help out with three typhoons and two earthquakes in the last six weeks. And we are gearing up for the oncoming super typhoon. But we are undaunted and ready. May God bless and protect the Filipino people.”

From early alerts to life-saving action, #ReadyPH exemplifies how technology, compassion, and collaboration can work hand in hand to strengthen national resilience long before disaster strikes.

FinTech Alliance PH represents more than 140 digital financial institutions responsible for over 95 percent of the country’s retail digital financial transaction volume—showing how innovation and solidarity can come together to empower communities when it matters most.
