Globe Launches New AI Development Group and Appoints Chief AI Officer

elecommunications and digital services company Globe Telecom Inc., the parent company of leading Philippines e-wallet GCash, announced on Wednesday the creation of a new group dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and development.
Globe stated that the AI Development and Enablement Group (AIDE) will be established and will formally commence operations on 1 June 2024.
AIDE will lead Globe’s AI initiatives, concentrating on strategic AI planning, development, business integration, and governance.

said Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu.
Ernest emphasised the importance of AI, noting that various teams within Globe are already exploring its benefits. However, he highlighted the need for a unified and vigorous approach to navigate these technological advancements effectively.
Globe has named cybersecurity and data privacy expert Anton Bonifacio as its first Chief AI Officer (CAIO). Bonifacio will also continue his role as Globe’s chief information security officer.
He expressed the company’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and responsible AI use.

Anton stated.
The formation of AIDE reflects Globe’s strategic focus on harnessing AI to enhance its operations and customer service.
