FinTech Alliance PH, KasKasan buddies join forces against online fraud

FinTech Alliance PH has formalized a strategic partnership with KasKasan Buddies to combat online fraud and bridge the literacy gap for over 1.3 million digital users. The move aligns with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) mandate for multi-sectoral collaboration to strengthen digital trust.

“Financial inclusion does not end with providing access to digital financial services,” said Lito Villanueva, founding chairman of FinTech Alliance PH. “It also requires ensuring that Filipinos have the knowledge, confidence, and awareness to use these tools safely and responsibly.”

The partnership centers on expanding public awareness of responsible money habits and real-time protection against cyber fraud.

By tapping into the 1.3 million-strong KasKasan Buddies (KKB) network, the Alliance aims to scale its “safety-first” messaging beyond corporate channels.

Villanueva noted that the initiative mirrors global regulatory efforts to curb misinformation, citing recent international crackdowns on uncertified financial influencers.

“By partnering with KasKasan Buddies, we are able to reach millions of everyday users and strengthen grassroots financial education at scale,” he said.

KasKasan Buddies founders Joel and Jax Reyes emphasized that the collaboration is designed to protect the core demographic of the Philippine fintech boom.

“Our community of 1.3 million KKBuddies are exactly the people that digital finance was built for,” the team said. “We are the everyday Filipinos who use these apps, swipe these cards, and send money through these platforms every single day.”

FinTech Alliance PH represents more than 150 member institutions, including global giants Mastercard and Visa. It collectively drives 95% of digital financial transactions in the Philippines, serving over 110 million accounts
